AMERICANA

A project I began in high school during a visit to Philadelphia, Americana is a documentative view on the life and energy of the American metropolis.

From an outsider's view, each city's story is told through its people, its architecture, and its unique cultural quirks. Each project is posted on VSCO, the first edition can be found here: https://vsco.co/dancui/journal/americana

Volume 1: The City of Brotherly Love

Philadelphia is a city rich in history and culture -- but its energy is perhaps the most vibrant and bountiful of any American city. In 2017, during a trip to the Pennsylvania cultural centre, I set out to document the subtleties of American lifestyle and culture that separates Philadelphia from other cities, and the US from Canada, as well.

The casual and relaxed atmosphere allowed for some great shots, and I curated the most important images which, personally, felt like a reflection of the City of Brotherly Love. Arts and creativity co-exist beautifully with an attitude of American grit - producing a unique sense of pride and an air of confidence in the residents and the city itself.
