Tasked with exploring generative design and the derivation of aesthetics from natural algorithms, this course pushed us to make models, drawings, and 3D models to discover a deeper connection between nature and design.
TILING: Expression in Efficiency
This book is the culmination of extensive research into tiling, one of the core generative principles as outlined in Tooling, by Benjamin Aranda. Also known as Voronoi, this mathematical algorithm expresses efficiency in the natural world, and communicates both structure and flexibility.
Using drawings, CAD mockups, and generative models, I explore the modes in which Voronoi as a natural process can influence aesthetic and expression in design.
